More than a dozen hirings in 2015: Deep Silver FISHLABS‘ team grows steadily [PRESS RELEASE]
Since early 2015, Deep Silver FISHLABS welcomed a total of 15 new staff members among their ranks. Among others, they filled the vacancies of Technical Director, Lead Programmer, Art Director and Human Resources Manager. In addition, the company also qualified for the Hamburg Family Seal.
Since the beginning of the year, Hamburg-based mobile games studio Deep Silver FISHLABS expanded its team significantly by hiring no less than 15 new employees, including Technical Director Mickey Kawick, Lead Programmer Vasco Lohrenscheit, Art Director Martin Elsaesser, and Senior HR Manager Christoph Hillermann. The 80-strong company plans to have reached a head count of 90 by the end of the year. Due to its attractive labor conditions, Deep Silver FISHLABS also received the Hamburg Family Seal from the city’s Senate, Chamber of Trade and Chamber of Crafts. Said honor is being awarded by the aforementioned institutions to small to medium-sized companies that put a strong emphasis on the establishment of a fit junction of career and family life.
Workwise, the hiring of Mickey Kawick will play a central role in the development of current and upcoming projects. The 48-year old American joined the company as Technical Director in March 2015. In this capacity he oversees the efforts of more than 40 programmers stretching out across six different teams. Kawick is a seasoned veteran of the games business with more than 21 years of work experience in the industry. Prior to his engagement at Deep Silver FISHLABS, he worked at a variety of international companies such as Electronic Arts, Sony Electronics, Sony Online Entertainment and Playdek in San Diego, USA. His track record includes the participation in more than two dozen full-price titles, including bestsellers such as Age of Empires, Madden, Freelancer and Planetside 2. Moreover, Kawick has written the specialized book “RTS Game Programming for Direct X 6.0“.
Another new addition to the team is Lead Programmer Vasco Lohrenscheit (37). Before joining Deep Silver FISHLABS, he had been working for the browser games specialists of Bigpoint as Lead Developer on Shard of War since September 2011. At his new company, he fills the same capacity in the development team of a hitherto unannounced project.
In addition, the position of the Art Director of said project got filled with Martin Elsaesser (40) who joined the company via London-based Rocksteady Studios. There, he had been working as Lead Artist on Batman: Arkham Nights for Warner Bros Entertainment since 2012. Before moving to London, Elsaesser worked for Crytek for three years, filling the capacity of Lead Artist on Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. Further stages of his career include engagements at Streamline Studios, Ubisoft / Related Designs, Radon Labs and Yager Development.
In the course of the studio’s latest wave of hirings, the HR department got extended as well with Christoph Hillermann (37) filling the position of Senior HR Manager. With immediate effect, the studied business graduate, who worked as Team Lead HR Business Partner at InnoGames for two years prior to his engagement with Deep Silver FISHLABS, will be in charge of all of the studio’s recruitment and HR processes and activities.
Further hirings include developers Claus Praefcke (Senior Programmer), Sergey Taraban (Programmer), Nikolai Pfaff (Programmer) and Max Röhrbein-Kling (Junior Engine Programmer) as well as artists Mickael Balloul (Senior Concept Artist) and Dario Furlan (Character Artist). Last but not least, the list is completed by Patrick Imbusch (Game Designer), Johannes Wieland (Project Manager), Matthew Brantley (IT Administrator), Timon Bätz (Networking Coder), and Kevin Hautz (QA Tester).
