The Beginning of a New Era: Introducing Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore [DEV BLOG #2]

Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore by Deep Silver FISHLABS (Dev Blog #2)

Welcome back to our blog, everybody. As a follow-up to our Head of Studio Michael’s recent interview with Pocket Gamer, we now kick off our pre-release coverage of Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore with this lil’ introductory piece. Read it carefully and return to this very place bi-weekly for a new blog post highlighting yet another aspect of GOF3 that we did not address in detail before. And while you are at it, follow us on social media, too – over there we share additional assets, images and news pieces on a regular basis. But now: On to Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore!

A dog fight amidst the structural elements of a giant space station. The player is under heavy enemy fire, but his shield still holds.

Like its prequel Manticore RISING, which launched exclusively on Apple TV in late 2015, the upcoming mobile app GOF3 is set in the Neox Sector – a hazardous patch of space located far outside the sphere of influence of the governing factions. There, you take over the role of a fighter pilot eager to rise to fame as the king or queen of the bounty hunters. Unlike the first GOF games that had you act out the adventures of Keith T. Maxwell, you are now in the center of the heat yourself, proceeding at your own pace and writing your own story. You are the hero! This all-new approach to storytelling and character development in the GOF universe bears a wealth of possibilities from which your gaming experience will benefit tremendously.

Our key visual in all its glory. Longtime GOF players will surely discover some familiar alien species and space ships.

For once, the game’s entire universe will be constantly in flux this time. Following up on the initial launch, we will continue to add new areas, assets, challenges and functionalities regularly during live operation. This will not only ensure that you will always have something new to discover in the game, but it will also make GOF3 a prime example of a “game as a service”. Thus, our work will not end but rather begin when the app launches globally this summer. And there is more! For the first time ever in an action game set in the GOF universe, Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore will offer its players a connected online space where fellow pilots assist one another in the missions they fly. Sounds exciting? You bet!

The official announcement trailer of Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore. Those were the first, and to this day only, moving pictures we have released of the upcoming app...

As you can imagine, we still have quite some work ahead of us before Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is ready to go live. Yet we are progressing nicely and every new meter we make is another step towards something huge. Designing, developing, introducing and ultimately releasing the next GOF game is one helluva journey; a journey we’d love to pace out together with you. So please return to our blog regularly, participate in the discussions on our forums and engage with us on social media. But for now, let your first impressions sink in and share them with us and your fellow GOF fans in the comments.

Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is currently in “Closed Development Beta”. In the course of this early test phase, invited Deep Silver employees as well as randomly picked community members can already lay hands on a “first playable” of the game. Can't wait looks wicked

Looks nice but it better not include a crap load of DLC's again

There's gonna be a broad variety of in-app purchases in GOF3... but you don't have to worry. We will put a ton of effort into balancing them well and in the end your gaming experience will benefit a lot from this approach.

Rather than put in DLC, you should just make it micro transactions. A successful game is not pay to play, but pay for those impatient. DLC are pay to play, and that sucks out the life of all games because of the low number of players. Get as many players by making everything able to be unlocked without paying any money, but earn money for those who are impatient. THAT is the current formula that got billion dollar games out like Candy Crush, Clash of Clans, card battle games, etc. Hope Fish Labs wakes up before it is too late and releases a dud.

Wtf are you talking about? That DLC System was just great, so that The players who want to put afford into this game and play it a lot to work for the best "gear" can benefit from that. I literaly hate this Pay To Win system where every Kid with just 2 houres of playing can be an ultimate radeboss just because they buy evrything with mikro transactions. Evrybody who played one of The new crappy Gameloft games will argue with me I guess.

i aggree with you. i hate pay to win games like clash of Clans or lots of gameloft-games too.

Really interested in hearing more about this "connected space" for playing with friends. I'm assuming it's not an open world MMO, where you bump into anyone, but more something like co-op multiplayer? If so, really excited about this potential.

We will address this topic in detail at a later point. We even have a blog or two planned for it. Until then, I can at least tell you that your suggestion goes into the right direction... ;)

Just had a wild thought. If this includes the ability for friends to man multiple stations on one ship (ie pilot, gunner, etc) then this will blow my socks off.

If I get the chance, I'll role play as Keith T. Maxwell's ball and chain girl friend. I'll find Keith and make him marry me, even if it means a shotgun wedding...er...I mean lazer blaster wedding!

I can not wait for this to be released lookes amazing

Will never buy anything Apple!. Losing another customer. Android or nothing .

Looks really fun can't wait to get it.

Fantastic, looks like hours of fun!

Can't wait! Pleeeeeease release it to us soon! GOF2 is my favorite game. I can hardly wait to see if Manticore can take over!

Glad to hear you're excited about GOF3! We will fill you in on more aspects of the game every two weeks here on our blog. And we will release additional assets and infos on our social media channels in the days in between the blogs. :)

It's good game. I really love it.

love game

Any plans to release GOF on consoles? Seems a prime candidate for the Xbox ID program

For the time being, we don't have any plans to port any of the GOF games to console. Sorry.

Well it's about time.Oooh looks good sounds great WHEN CAN I GET IT when can I play it.?

Mobile gaming desperately needs a true AAA title to blow some minds and this seems to be it!

Cheers, Darkich. We're doing everything we can to make GOF3 exactly THAT title!

Awesome :)

Нармальна хочу скачаити

still playing GOF2, never get bored, cant wait to play GoF3
